Pu‘uhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park. The Hale o Keawe is a sacred temple where those how broke the law, kapu, could run to to find refuge and escape the usual punishment of death.
Another capture off of our Lanai in Kona. There are a bunch of these beauties flitting about. Never long enough to lock focus, but this one works well I think.
A Gecko licks the juice from flowers of a palm tree.They seem to have a well-adapted tongue that you might see after you get past the colorful patterns on its back and those fantastic blue rimmed eyes.
Looking up to the top of Mona Kea (4,207.3 meters, 13803 feet) you can clearly see the observatories. Ski season is open right now, but we came to enjoy the beaches thanks.
Orange Fronted Yellow Finch - While walking along the main street in Kona, we saw a number of these very bright and pretty finches flitting about. Such wonderful color.
Mouse on a Palm - Stepping out onto our Lanai, I spotted this little fellow chowing down on the fruit that the geckos were enjoying the day before. Popular spot.
