Some abandoned out buildings languish in a medow in late autumn near Whitefish Montana
First time back in Yellowstone NP since 1958.We arrived at West Yellowstone the night before they rolled up the streets in October. This was shot the next day along the Madison River.
It is easy to see how the river and surrounding area got its name when you see the glowing walls of the river canyon

This handsome bull elk was foraging in the woods with his harem. They were between the road and Yellowstone Lake conveniently at a pullout so it was easy to stay in the car and shoot through the open window.
In this shot, it was a little later and he had moved across the road putting the forest behind him. I like his pose and while I could probably take out the stick that points to his foreleg, I don't feel it upsets the composition enough to justify the work. It would also break the PSA nature and wildlife competition rules.

The Mormon Row is a number of homes and barns that were built by Mormon settlers to this valley way back when...This is the iconic shot of a barn in front of the mountains.
The classic photo from this location is a barn about 100 yards from this outhouse. I thought this composition would be amusing and useful.
